Coach / Volunteer Requirements


Pursuant to Florida Statute 943.0438, all coaches, volunteers or any persons who has direct contact with one or more minors on a youth athletic team MUST be approved and have completed a level 1 background screening pursuant to state statutes 463.03 and through The Department of Law Enforcement under state statutes 943.043, and must be conducted annually.  

USA Lacrosse has adopted coaching background checks through NCSI, but it does not meet the requirements of the State of Florida.  Many County municipalities have declined the back ground screening process through USA Lacrosse.  Storm Select Lacrosse mandates level 1 background screenings on all coaches, volunteers, assistants, etc. via The Department of Law Enforcement.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR COACHES / VOLUNTEERS


Storm Select Lacrosse requires all coaches and on field volunteer help to complete the following educational courses, as required by the state of Florida.


  1. Join or renew your membership.
  2. Complete a background screening through NCSI.
  3. Complete online abuse prevention training.

The background screening and online abuse prevention course are both provided by USA Lacrosse for coach members at no additional charge. You will be directed via email with information to complete steps 2 and 3 after you join or renew your membership. Membership is an annual requirement while the background screen and online abuse prevention training are required to be updated every two years.
